The CLIC Data Coordination Center is a central data storehouse.
The Data Coordination Center (DCC) was established in 2014 at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) in Lyon, France to make collaborative research within the consortium more efficient while complying with national data confidentiality legislation for the transfer and storage of study data.
CLIC researchers defined a standardized set of core variables. These core variables are used in virtually all pooling projects (these are projects for which the data from multiple CLIC studies are combined and analyzed to investigate environmental and/or genetic factors that may be associated with specific childhood cancers).
At present, almost all CLIC studies have provided the core variables to the DCC. Some CLIC studies also have contributed additional variables. In 2024 – 2025, the CLIC Foundation created a Grant for Sending Data to the Data Coordination Center to encourage more CLIC studies to send all of their data to the DCC. Nine CLIC Studies received this grant to support data processing and sending their data. Currently, over half of the CLIC member studies have their full data set at the DCC or are in the process of working through Data Transfer Agreements and sending their data.
In 2025, the CLIC Foundation created the KoaStrong Scientific IT Platform (SIT) Grant to provide year-long licenses for the researchers who want to access our data on the IARC servers for a streamlined pooled analysis. This grant will be open yearly for those who have new or ongoing CLIC projects.
The development and expansion of the DCC has been supported by the Children with Cancer UK charity. The Data Coordination Center at IARC hosts a research-oriented website for CLIC investigators.
